Lev 22:29  And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.

Today is a day of thanksgiving.  Give thanks of your own free will.  Not because a government has chosen a day to do it.  Not because Grandma expects us to come eat her pie.  Not because we love turkey.  Not because it is a great day to sleep in.  Simply give thanks because you are thankful.

Giving thanks takes work.  It requires quietness to think about the blessings we enjoy.  The work of it is to think.  To think thanks.  To think about where we would be without….you name it.  Where would we be without the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross?  Where would we be if we had to stand before an eternal, creator, almighty God with no covering for our sin?  Through Christ, we have hope to escape damnation in hell.  He suffered in our place the torments of eternal fire and darkness and worms and separation from God.

Be thankful today, from the core of your soul, to the God of Heaven who has blessed us with many things, the foundation of which is Jesus!
