I had a long conversation with a young woman with bipolar disorder.  She had been a highly trained and successful certified Pretty flower of hope.public accountant, climbing the corporate ladder.  Now, she is living a secluded life in a large old farmhouse on a quiet road, wondering how she will pay her mortgage.  She feels like a failure, but I assured her that she has great purpose and value regardless of her illnesses and struggle.  Like a beautiful flower alongside an old country farmhouse, the Lord sees us and cares.

If life only has value based on what we are accomplishing, there would be great discouragement and hopelessness.  All people have times of life when we fail and seem very unproductive.  Thankfully, every human being has purpose and value beyond the activities of our lives.  We have a Creator who formed us on purpose…not by mistake or accident, not by chance over billions of years, but with focused intent he has fashioned us with loving kindness.

There is great beauty and hope in life when we have a purpose.  We have an almighty creator God, who tells us he created us on purpose, for His glory, and He likes us!  He did more than just make us, Genesis tells us he formed us!  Picture the care and love of God’s Father hands as He shapes each one of us.  Regardless of disability, or illness, or failure, God loves His creation and desires each of us to rest in His love.  He values us so much, that He gave His own son to purchase us back from sin!  Here are some verses of encouragement from the Bible.

Isa 43:1 & 7  But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

Psa 139:13-16  For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Rev 4:11  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

St. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
