Description
Gardening, truck farming, or landscaping requires a great deal of effort to control weed growth. Good old fashioned hand weeding is the most common approach. The use of chemicals can be used to curtail the growth of weeds, but may not be a good choice for various reasons from the goal of growing organic or avoidance of exposure to chemicals. Heavy mulching with straw, hay or other organic materials such as shredded wood or bark is another option, but is fairly labor intensive, requires a supply of the mulch, and still requires occasional weeding, even with a thick layer of mulch put down.
Workers with endurance, back, arthritis, knee and leg, or other disabilities will find the effort of weeding and maintaining a weed free area. Use of Landscape Fabric will be useful to these workers.
Landscape Fabric is a great alternative to chemicals or hand weeding, or typical mulch. Once the fabric is laid down, very minimal, if any, weeding will be required. The Landscape Fabric is permeable to water and retains moisture while preventing weed growth. A thin layer of mulch can still be added to help hold the fabric down and also improve moisture retention.
Think about the use of Landscape Fabric to help ease the job of maintaining a weed free garden or flower bed.
